2003 DEVELOPMENT OF A PROTOTYPE TARIFF SYSTEM FOR A REGULATORY POLICY IN THE INDUSTRIAL TEXTILES SECTOR

The structure of the project was in accordance with the following operational stages:

  • study of the tariff regulations relating to water consumption by the industrial textiles sector in a European context;
  • benchmarking analysis of European systems to identify parameters of best practice;
  • planning pricing models that include incentives to improve the quality of technological solutions in the textile industry;
  • simulation of the effect of the introduction of various pricing systems in the textile industry, starting from an analysis of the costs of the industrial process and study of the water cycle in the sector. This project included the use of the appropriate software in the modelling of the economic impact of the different pricing structures on companies in the sector.

The overall objective was to provide the policy-maker with practical regulatory instruments and the entrepreneur in the sector with proposals to improve the efficiency of water use.
