10 July 2017 - Wine and Sustainability

Bologna, Nomisma Meeting Hall, 2:30 pm - NOMISMA WINE MONITOR WORKSHOP.
Sustainability is a value that is increasingly being recognized by consumers both for organizations (environmental and social) and for individual products. Among such products, sustainable wines are gaining significant market shares, especially abroad, in the markets of North America (USA above all) and Northern Europe (Scandinavia). At the national level, several private and public institutions - including the Ministry of the Environment - have promoted sustainability by making available for use by businesses various protocols and regulations, the respect of which leads to certification of products as well as organizations.
To broaden the understanding of these topics and evaluate market opportunities for sustainable wines, Wine Monitor is organizing a workshop dedicated to winegrowing companies.

WHAT IS GOING TO BE COVERED

  • US Market Insight and Consumer Survey: What kinds of opportunities for sustainable wines?
  • The strategic approach to sustainability in the Swedish and Norwegian Markets
  • What are the potential benefits for Italian wine companies?
  • Sustainability protocols available in Italy: Testimonies
  • How can you get your company certified as being sustainable?

Has Italy lost its ability to generate wealth? It seems to be so, judging by the GDP figures, even though the success of “Made in Italy” and its champions in global markets suggests that the country is able to do many things. Anna Giunta and Salvatore Rossi analyze the causes of this impasse and the strengths of our international competitiveness and suggest how to increase production efficiency. In order to discuss “What Italy is able to do” (Laterza 2017) and the problems of many businesses that are family-run and not very productive or innovative, Nomisma has invited Giovanna Furlanetto, Marco Magnani and Pierluigi Stefanini. Andrea Goldstein is moderating the discussion.
